Yes, we are licensed by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and all our caregivers are registered with the Department of Social Services. Being licensed, means we meet all state standards for providing care in the home.
According to the CDSS, “With unlicensed care (referral agencies, private hires, care placement agencies, etc.) the individuals placed in your home may not have any training to provide care. They may also have a criminal history that could be unsafe for you or your loved one(s). The caregiver may show up late, call in sick, not perform the job well or meet your needs…Additionally, CDSS has no oversight authority over these unlicensed care entities or to investigate complaints filed against these entities.”

At Davis In-Home Care, Inc., all our caregivers are employees of the company. Our clients are protected because we handle the insurance, taxes and all of the other employer responsibilities for our caregivers
Many people don’t realize that if they hire a caregiver directly, they have the same employer responsibilities we do. Calling the caregiver an independent contractor doesn’t alter this responsibility. For example, if your private caregiver is injured on the job, you are responsible for the medical bills and any disability pay. You may also be liable for unemployment claims, back taxes or penalties for labor law violations.
-
Yes! We cover all our caregivers with liability and worker’s compensation insurance and they’re also bonded. However, first we put our applicants through a rigorous screening process. It includes a criminal background check and review of their driving history. We also conduct professional and personal reference checks. We do all this to ensure our caregivers are people of good character as well as good skills.

Yes! We start with a thorough assessment. We learn about relevant medical diagnosis, your living situation, current needs, and goals for the future. Then we work with you on a schedule that meets your needs. Armed with this information, we write a Care Plan tailored to your needs and wishes. It spells out the care we’ll provide, and we use it to choose a caregiver who will be a good fit for you. The result of this process is care that is customized to your needs and wishes.
