Getting started is easy!
It begins when you contact us and ends when you’re delighted with your new caregiver. In between we work hard following a proven process to make things easy for you.
In 2025 we celebrate our 15-year anniversary. Over the years, we have improved and refined our on-boarding process. However, our goal is the same: to provide the care you want with a caregiver you enjoy. We invite you to read on and learn how we achieve that.
Get-Acquainted Call
We start by getting to know you. After you contact us, we’ll have a “get-acquainted” call. We’ll begin by asking some questions to learn about you or your loved one’s needs.
What are the things you need help with?
Any medical diagnosis we should know about?
Is anyone currently providing care?
How soon would you like to start care?
We’ll share information about us.
Talk about OUR SERVICES
Explain how we monitor your care after it starts to ensure your satisfaction
Discuss our rates
Explain the advantages of Davis In-Home Care over other care companies
We can also be a resource for you. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have about in-home care or us. If you’re weighing different options, we can help you there, too. With 15 years of experience in the senior care field, we can explain the pros and cons of any alternatives you may be considering. If in-home care isn’t your best option at this time, we’ll tell you that, too. If it is, we’ll explain the benefits it offers.
If appropriate, we’ll proceed to the next step and schedule a complimentary assessment.
Complimentary Assessment
Through years of experience, we learned that by spending extra time upfront getting to know you, we can serve you better after service starts. A good example of this is the thorough assessment we do. We come to your home to meet you and see your living situation. It is free and there is no obligation, but it provides a valuable opportunity for us to learn about your needs and preferences.
Typical assessment topics include:
What are the things you need help with?
Any medical diagnosis we should know about?
Any preferences or “special requests” you’d like us to know about?
We’ll identify all the services we can provide to meet your needs and preferences
Recommend supplies or equipment you may need, if any
Work with you to create your ideal schedule
Provide specific cost information
If you’re ready to move forward, we’ll set a start date. We’ll also discuss our agreement and other next steps. After a full discussion of your care needs and schedule, we’re ready to write your Care Plan.
Writing Your Care Plan
Armed with detailed information from your assessment, we write your Care Plan. Think of it as our action plan to help you. The Care Plan spells out what we’ll do and when we’ll do it. The two main features are:
A written list of services that meets your care needs
A written schedule showing the days and hours you requested
It’s also flexible. We can add services later if your needs increase, or drop them if they decrease.
Selecting Your Caregiver
We use your Care Plan to select a great caregiver for you. We carefully match the skill needs of your Care Plan with the skills of our individual caregivers. Other caregiver considerations include availability, location and personality. After we select your caregiver, we discuss your Care Plan in detail so he/she understands what they need to do to assist you.
Whomever we choose for you will have passed our rigorous screening process. We only hire caregivers with experience and then we give them additional training. Importantly, all of our caregivers are employees of the company. This means we pay payroll taxes, provide worker’s compensation and liability insurance, and bonding for them. The benefit for our clients is caregivers with good skills and good character. And because we handle all the employer responsibilities, our clients are protected.
Confirming Start of Service
We keep in touch during this process. We’ll call to confirm the start date. We’ll also discuss any needed supplies or equipment, so you’re well prepared.
Your First Service Visit
We accompany your caregiver on the first visit and personally introduce him/her to you. Thanks to our thorough Care Plan and review of it with your caregiver before the first visit, he/she walks in ready to go to work for you. We also review the Care Plan with you so we all share the same understanding of what the caregiver will do for you.
There are several client benefits to this process. Though it takes extra time on our part, it’s easy for you. It also helps us provide care that is tailored to your needs. If all this seems very sensible, we agree!
Monitoring Care after Service Starts
We closely monitor care after service starts to make sure you are getting the help you need and are happy with your caregiver. For example, we call after the first few visits to get your feedback on our caregiver. We talk with your caregiver to make sure the Care Plan is appropriate. We do spot-check visits in the home to see our caregiver in action and make sure you’re pleased. Then we continue periodic phone calls and home visits throughout the service.
We also monitor service through our automated time-keeping system. Our caregivers use it to clock in and out from shifts. Clients like it because there’s no paperwork for them to audit or sign. We like it because we can monitor what’s happening in the field in real-time.
In short, we monitor care and stay in touch through multiple means. We do it all to make sure you are happy and getting the help you need. If you ever have a question or a concern, we want to know about it so we can help or make things right.
